The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Durro (Santa Maria Durro) is a parish church in Romanesque town of Durro.
Durro is a village in the municipality of Vall de Boi, in the region of Alta Ribagorça.
Durro is located 1,384 meters above sea level in the foothills of the Sierra de Corruco. It is really a small village, with a population of 105.
Despite the houses were restored in recent years, most of them retain existing elements, such as walls, roofs.
Nativitat de la Mare de Déu de Durro (Nativity of the Virgin Durro)
The church has a single long and narrow nave with a barrel vault and slate roof. It was built with a single apse, now replaced by a sacristy.
Two square chapels have been built into the northern wall, and the bell tower rises from the northeast corner to five storeys.
The entrance is cut into the southern wall, to a covered walkway.
The building has been renovated and extended many times since it was built in the 12th century and little of its original appearance remains.
The interior retains Baroque features from later renovations.
I found two unique wooden images at the church.
Nicodemus, New Testament. John 3: 1-2: There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews; The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God.
I looked around the church for a while and said good-bye to Nicodemus, then appeared to the street.
Then I went to the church, Sant Quirc de Durro, on a hill.
