Hévíz is a spa town in Zala County Hungary, about 8 kilometres from the western shore of Lake Balaton. (Hungarian “hévíz” means thermal in English.)
Checked in at the hotel and got the map, we are going to the famous Lake Hévíz (thermal lake) immediately.
Lake Hévíz is the second largest thermal lake in the world. The flow of water is very strong and the lake is completely replenished each day. The waters are beneficial to patients suffering from rheumatic diseases and locomotor disorders, among others.
The complex of bathing treatment used in Hévíz has been developed through the centuries as a unique kind of medical care.
Left the spa, and we are going to stroll in the town of Hévíz.
The Town-hall is located at Kossuth Lajos Street, it was constructed between 1998 and 1999 on the place of the former town-house.
There is a modern church on the opposite side of the Town Hall. Let’s enter.
This Holy Spirit Church is the largest church in the town. The foundation stone of the church was laid by the bishop Jozsef Szendi in 1996. The church was built based on the plans of the architect Janos Bocskai, has been completed in three years. It has been consecrated together with the Town Hall by Jozsef Szendi retired bishop on September 9th, 1999.
The church has the seven sky-high towers which are the symbols of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit (wisdom, understanding, counsel, knowledge, fortitude, piety, and fear of the Lord).
The interior of the church is mixing modern and traditional architecture mainly enhanced by the nice wooden panels. Its seating capacity is about 1000.
After the Holy Spirit Church, we are going back to the hotel for a dinner.
