Ruwanweli-saya is a stupa (Dagoba) in Anuradhapura, considered a marvel for its architectural qualities and sacred to many Buddhists all over the world.

Ruvanveliseya Stupa; I was astonished at the benormity.
This magnificent huge Dagaba which is 103 meters in height and 287 meters in circumference was built in 2nd century B.C.

Ruvanveliseya Stupa was built by King Dutugemunu, who is concidered as one of the most outstanding ancient Kings of Sri Lanka.

Dutugamunu was a Sinhalese King of Sri Lanka who reigned from 161 BC to 137 BC. He is renowned for defeating and overthrowing Elara, the usurping Tamil prince from the Chola Kingdom, who had invaded the Kingdom of Rajarata in 205 BC.
There are a lot of unique relief and carvings everywhere.

After the stupa of Ruvanveliseya, left for the Thuparamaya Dagoba. It took ten minutes to there on foot. There are some old ancient ruins around the Thuparamaya Dagoba.

Thuparamaya is a sacred obeisance in Anuradhapura. This is the first stupa to be built in the country after the introduction of Buddhism to Sri Lanka.

Thuparamaya was built in the time of king Devamnampiyatissa (250BC – 210BC). It contained an Aramic complex (monastery).
Pillars around it are concidered as small stupas.
There’s a small shrine in front of the Dagoba. Buddha sits down in it.
