O Cebreiro Galicia Spain

At that morning, I left the Villafranca del Bierzo for the village of O Cebreiro located on the Cebreiro-Pass.

The first village, Pereje is a autonomous community of Castile and Leon . It lies on the River Valcarce in the Sierra de Ancares. The very small village has a population of 39 inhabitants.

Next village, Trabadelo is a municipality located in the region of El Bierzo. According to the 2004 census, the municipality has a population of 523 inhabitants.

Extremely small village of Portela de Valcarce is in the municipality of Vega de Valcarce. It is located on the left bank of the river Valcarce at an altitude of about 600 meters. The French Way passes through the town. Its population is 35 in 2013.

Vega de Valcarce is a municipality in the region of El Bierzo, autonomous community of Castile and León. It has a population of 752 inhabitants. It is one of the municipalities spoken Galician.

O Cebreiro (Piedrafita del Cebrero or Pedrafita do Cebreiro) is a small village on the Camino de Santiago in the east of the Autonomous Community of Galicia. It has a población of 1,155 inhabitants in 2014.

The Royal St. Mary’s Church was built in O Cebreiro in 1965–71 on the foundations of a pre-Romanesque church rediscovered in 1962.

After the church, I was looking around the traditional houses of the area.

A palloza is a traditional dwelling of the northwest Spain. Structure is a circle or oval, of 10 to 20 meters in diameter, with stone walls and a conical and slanted roof composed of stalks of rye. It was intended to house and shelter cattale, its structure was ideal to withstand the harsh winters.
