Santo Domingo de Silos is a municipality and town located in the province of Burgos, Castile and León. According to the 2004 census, the municipality has a population of 292 inhabitants.

The Monastery of Silos is a Benedictine monastery in the village of Santo Domingo de Silos in the southern part of Burgos Province. The monastery is named after the eleventh-century Saint Dominic of Silos.

Santo Domingo (Saint Dominic) was a Spanish priest and founder of the Dominican Order. Dominic is the patron saint of astronomers.

Dominic was born in a small village Caleruega Province of Burgos, lies a 19km south of Santo Domingo de Silos. Caleruega has a population of 506 inhabitants.

Saint Dominic was named after Saint Dominic of Silos, who is also said to be the patron saint of hopeful mothers.

After touring the monastery, I left the monastery and mounted the nearby hill and found a hermitage.
