Crossed the Rebun Chanel to the Rishiri Island by the ferry “The Cypria Soya” on that day.
The ferry arrived at Kutsugata Port of Rebun Island for approximately 40 minutes.
Then, walked about 15 minutes, arrived at the booked “Hotel Rebun.”
Hotel Rebun; The hotel is a nice accommodation, as reasonable price. It has a large hot springs, and the rooms and lobby are clean, the employees are friendly and helpful. I really love the hotel.
Description of Rishiri Island; The island is a remote, small island about 20 kilometers off the northern tip of Hokkaido, with a circumference of about 60 kilometers and Mount Rishiri, a dormant volcano, at its center. Together with neighboring Rebun Island, Rishiri belongs to the Rishiri-Rebun-Sarobetsu National Park. Many of the island’s inhabitants are making a living from tourism and fishing. The population of the island is 5,100 (2013).
Rishiri Island offers various hiking and walking opportunities. The climb to the top of Mount Rishiri takes a full day and is quite challenging. There is also a cycling road along the island’s northern coast. A visit to Rishiri Island is most attractive during the summer months (June to August), when the island’s alpine flora is in bloom.
Mount Rishiri; Mt. Rishiri which is the symbol of the island is 1,721m above sea level with a independence peak, located in Hokkaido, Rishiri Island.
The mountain is a stratovolcano, extinct volcano, expanding to Rishiri-town and Rishirifuji-town.
The area was registered as the special area of Rishiri-Rebun-Sarobetsu National Park.
I will insert some photographs of the Rishiri Island on the next post.
