Taüll Santa Maria church is Romanesque in the town of Taüll which is located in the municipality of Valle de Boi.
I was going to the Church of Santa Maria de Taüll from the Church of Sant Climent.
I arrived at the Church of Santa Maria de Taüll.
It is located in the center of Old Taüll and meters southwest is the church of Sant Clemente which belongs to the same era. Both were erected and consecrated at the same time: the Santa Maria was consecrated a day later than that of San Clemente, in the year 1123.
The building has a basilica ground plan with three naves separated by columns, but after the modifications carried out on the church only one nave remains.
The sanctuary has three apses and a 12th-century bell tower, comprising five floors, with an array of blind arches and pilaster-style decorative features. The interior houses wall paintings, copies of the originals which are now preserved in the Catalan National Art Museum.
I went up to the bell tower and looked around. The Taüll village was beautiful.
Got down from the top of the bell tower I went to the next village, Erill-la-Vall.
